Vintage Metal Dollhouse Furniture. Possibly 1940 Era.

4 March 2025

Who was the manufacturer of this vintage metal dollhouse furniture?

Possibly made in Australia but not definite and no proof of manufacturer for this metal furniture that is hollow on the back and underneath. It certainly isn't flimsy metal, having some weight to the pieces.

                         Stamped underneath with letters.

I've seen this furniture in a dark cream, two different shades of green and two different shades of blue and it's possible it came in another shade of cream as well, maybe?

Regardless of the colour of furniture, the handles were originally painted red.

There is a living room set that consists of a three seater lounge, two single matching seats, a piano and a piano stool. The bedroom set is made up of a double bed, dressing table, large wardrobe and smaller wardrobe. A kitchen set includes a fridge, table with chairs, I'm assuming four, it could be two and an all in one kitchen dresser with shelves above the lower cupboards. I'm yet to find a cooker or kitchen sink and I have no idea if the dressing table had a matching chair.

The doors on all these pieces of furniture do not open.

The darker blue kitchen furniture.

It looks like some of the pieces of furniture were numbered, some had letters and others look like they have neither, although a few pieces of mine that didn't appear to be numbered, were numbered when I removed some of the paint and took a closer look with a strong magnifying glass. While I can't find numbers or letters on all of them, I'm not done looking with fresh eyes every so often and in a different light as some of the markings are faint.

Piano and piano stool, different shades of green.

I've compiled a list of furniture with their numbers and lettering and tried to get a handle on how the numbers and lettering work but nothing makes much sense so far.

This bedroom set is the same shade of green as the piano.

These metal dollhouse sets aren't easy to come by. One lot came with a dollhouse I bought and then I had to wait for three years before I found another lot.

I would love to find more to furnish an entire house in all the same colour.

Australian made?

The kitchen dresser, table and two kitchen chairs in the photo above all have their paint removed. All that can be seen is the bare grey metal but the back of the furniture tells a different story where the original pale blue paint can be seen as in the photo below.

The other shade of blue.

This furniture is a mystery to me...but the search continues. Something might eventually come to light to identify the manufacturer.
